Requesting a Speaker
1. Mason Speakers is a free service of George
Mason University. Please allow a minimum of three weeks
before your publicity deadline to make arrangements for a speaker.
Each community organization may schedule a Mason Speaker three times
per year.
2. We require an audience of at least 30 at each event. It is very
important that the organization provides as accurate an estimate
of attendance as possible. Speakers prepare differently for various
sized groups. They also may incur expense in preparing handouts.
Please contact us prior to the event if you do not anticipate having
at least 30 participants, and we will reschedule the speaker.
3. The organization is responsible for providing audio/visual (A/V)
equipment as needed. AV requirements are listed with each topic.
4. Select a first-choice topic and two alternatives in case your
first choice is unavailable. If you can not find a topic you are
looking for or if you have additional questions about the scheduling
process, please call the Office
of Community Relations at (703) 993-8761.
5. We'll contact the speaker to schedule the event and call you
back to confirm the engagement and get additional information as
needed. We will provide you with the speaker's name and phone number
if you have additional questions about the topic.
6. We will follow up with a confirmation letter two to three weeks
before the engagement. Following the lecture, we will send you an
electronic feedback form. This will help us to continue to improve
the Mason Speakers program.
Thank you for using Mason Speakers for your programming needs.
