The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement (CLCE) promotes positive change and civic engagement by combining academic study, leadership education, and community-based learning. CLCE is Mason’s resource for leadership education and community service-learning programs. CLCE provides students with the following:
Credit and noncredit leadership development and service-learning courses, workshops, seminars, and conferences
Support for faculty integrating community-based learning into their courses
Sponsorship of campuswide service and leadership programs, including AIDS Walk Washington, Alternative Spring Break, Hunger Banquet, and Holiday Spirit
A leadership minor
CLCE advises faculty on integrating service learning into the curriculum and provides training for professionals in nonprofit organizations who want to host Mason students as service learners. In addition, CLCE provides general information regarding volunteer opportunities for students, faculty, and staff, as well as a leadership and service-learning resource library.
