Capitol Connection
Mason’s all-digital instructional television and wireless cable system serves
government agencies, law firms, news organizations, embassies, and corporate offices
in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The service is provided 24 hours a day,
broadcasting C-SPAN, C-SPAN 2, C-SPAN 3, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox
News, and Bloomberg News. The Capitol Connection broadcasts the open meetings
of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission (FERC), and Mason telecourses for credit. It also provides its
subscribers with all the local Washington, D.C., broadcast television stations. In
1998, the Capitol Connection began webcasting audio and video coverage of the
FCC, FERC, and National Transportation Safety Board meetings, as well as Mason
courses for credit to viewers worldwide on the Internet. Now it provides webcasting
services to associations, government agencies, and corporations. It also operates a
satellite teleport in Fairfax providing uplink and downlink satellite television services
for the university, the Fairfax County and Arlington County public schools, and

GMU-TV
GMU-TV provides a wide array of award-winning educational, informational, research-focused, and public affairs programming for Mason; Northern Virginia; Washington, D.C.; and the world. Among its products are course materials, research communications, and public relations programming.
GMU-TV’s programming is distributed in a variety of broadcast and online media formats. It provides encoding services for distribution of content via podcast, Mason’s iTunesU services, and streaming media. In conjunction with academic departments, GMU-TV provides professional training for Mason students through internships and experiential learning in the media industry, which has a concentrated presence in Northern Virginia.
