Aging and Personal Wellness

The College of Health and Human Services and Department of Psychology are pleased to announce a new interdisciplinary noncredit course for older adults, Aging and Personal Wellness. Sponsored by George Mason University, the course is designed to provide older adult participants with a general background in the aging process and the strategies and resources that elders can use in support of the process. Content is relevant to elders and participants who want to better understand their own aging or that of their relatives or friends. Important learner outcomes include gaining knowledge of normal aging phenomena and experiences, including the effects of aging on body systems, mental health and aging, and the importance of the environment and aging; using tools to carry out a self-assessment to identify personal strengths and weaknesses; and actively engaging in wellness planning and implementation.
