Academic Programs Overview

Students can choose from 68 undergraduate, 72 master’s, 27 doctoral, and 1 professional degree programs through the university’s academic divisions and institutes. Some of the academic departments without graduate degree programs offer graduate courses for elective credit and personal or professional enrichment.

Summer Term

Summer enrollment is open to eligible undergraduate,graduate, and nondegreeseeking students. Summer Term offers more than 750 daytime and evening courses in three sessions in five-to eight-week formats. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to shorten the time needed to receive a degree, pursue a double major, update skill sets for a job, or take a look at another field. Transfer Center

The Transfer Center, located in Room 202 of the Occoquan Building on the Prince William Campus, is dedicated to providing information, referrals, and support to transfer students to enhance the opportunities for them to develop strong academic preparation, ensure a smooth and seamless transition to Mason, and provide the resources necessary for successful progress toward graduation. Services are provided to transfer and transitioning undergraduate students through preadmission and transition advising; coordination of activites with the Admissions and Orientation offices; and advocacy assistance in facilitating connections to the campus community. Through collaboration and communication with internal and external constituents, the center is committed to providing the leadership that enables students to achieve academic success. Transfer Students

Mason welcomes qualified students who wish to transfer from other colleges and universities. Potential transfer students should refer to the University Catalog for the university’s transfer requirements and any requirements of the school or college governing their programs. Transfer information sessions are generally held monthly.
